Terms & Conditions of Sale
Last updated 23 October 2026 · Draft for review
Not a final policy
Marked placeholders are unresolved, not agreed terms. A Jersey advocate should review the complete terms before they are relied on for real transactions.
Read the Privacy Notice1. Who we are
Channel Islands Numismatic Auctions ("the Platform") operates from Jersey, Channel Islands. Jersey GST registration JE1234567. Contact +44 (0) 7700 700003 · jerseycoinfair@gmail.com.
The Platform acts as an agent introducing buyers and sellers. Unless stated otherwise, the Platform does not own the lots offered; the contract of sale is between the seller (consignor) and the buyer.
2. Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms, every bid, consignment and sale are governed by the laws of the Island of Jersey. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Royal Court of Jersey; claims of £30,000 or less may be brought in the Petty Debts Court.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Supply of Goods and Services (Jersey) Law 2009 that cannot lawfully be excluded.
3. Registration & eligibility
Browsing is public. An account is required to place a bid. Final buyer eligibility and verification requirements have not yet been confirmed.
4. Bidding
Every bid is a binding offer to buy at that price plus the buyer's premium and GST. The highest accepted bid at the fall of the hammer (live) or at the close (timed) forms a binding contract, subject to any reserve.
Timed lots use anti-sniping: a bid in the final two minutes resets the clock to two minutes.
Bids follow the published increment ladder. We may withdraw lots, reopen bidding on a dispute, or reject bids at our discretion.
5. Fees & Jersey GST
Buyers pay a 12.5% buyer's premium on the hammer price. Sellers pay a 10% commission on the hammer price.
Jersey Goods and Services Tax at 5% (Goods and Services Tax (Jersey) Law 2007) is charged on the buyer's premium and the seller's commission only. No GST is charged on the hammer price of privately-owned goods sold by individuals.
All prices are in Pounds Sterling; Jersey Pounds are accepted at par.
6. Payment
Real payment collection is not yet set up. A demonstration payment button does not collect money or confirm cleared payment. No escrow or funds-holding service is currently provided.
7. Consignment (sellers)
Sellers confirm they own the item outright, have the right to sell it, and that it is genuine, lawful and accurately described. Sellers indemnify the Platform against claims arising from a false description or defective title.
All submissions are curated. We may set estimates, propose a counter-estimate, assign a themed sale, or decline. The minimum reserve is £30.
Once a lot is listed the seller may not withdraw it or sell it elsewhere until the sale closes. Withdrawal after listing may incur the full commission as a fee.
8. Descriptions & condition
Grades from PCGS, NGC or PMG are the opinion of those services. Raw grades and descriptions are opinions given in good faith. Nothing in these draft terms is intended to exclude rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Buyers are encouraged to ask questions via the Lot Q&A before bidding. Answers are published to all bidders.
9. Island Handover & collection
Buyer and seller arrange an in-person handover in Jersey at a public place that both parties must accept. The Platform has no office collection location and does not arrange postage, shipping or customs export.
Inspect the item at handover and retain the Handover Slip. Meet in a safe public place in daylight. A signature does not remove any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Off-platform dealing
Sharing phone numbers, emails or arranging a private sale for a listed lot is prohibited and will be removed from Q&A. Breach may result in suspension and the full fees remaining payable.
11. Returns, authenticity & disputes
Report a suspected counterfeit, material misdescription or other dispute to jerseycoinfair@gmail.com. The return and refund policy has not yet been finalised; no fixed authenticity-guarantee period is promised by this draft. Applicable legal rights remain unaffected.
12. Liability
To the extent permitted by Jersey law, the Platform's liability to any party is limited to the fees it received on the lot concerned. We are not liable for indirect loss or for the acts of buyers or sellers at a handover.
13. Data protection
The separate Privacy Notice explains the information used for accounts, consignments and lot questions. The final data-handling policy requires confirmation against the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 before launch.
14. Changes
We may update these terms; the version shown at the time you place a bid or submit a consignment applies to that transaction.
